Akita

A first class guard dog, the Akita is intelligent, faithful, and loves companionship. This breed is very aggressive towards other dogs, cats, and children that are not part of the family. They do not like to be teased and will bite. It is very important to keep them on a leash at all times. They are willful, and possessive, therefore firm obedience training is required while they are still puppies.

Boxer

Although the Boxer is generally a happy, playful breed, it can be very stubborn and sneaky. They are highly regarded as a breed that gets along extremely well with children. The Boxer likes to use its front paws to play with its toys, and food bowls much like a cat plays. They are very playful, they will grab and carry anything around in their mouths. They love human companionship, are very athletic, and love to jump on people. Early training and socialization will help keep this breed under control.

Great Dane

Playful and patient, especially with children, the Great Dane is a gentle giant. This breed loves everybody, loves to be around people, and it very affectionate. They do not bark much, and are not overly aggessive unless the situation calls for it. Because of their immense size, obedience training should be given when they are young puppies. They become more difficult to train as the start to grow larger, plus for some reason they like to lean on people, especially kids Some of the dogs in this breed are aggressive toward same sex dogs, so early socialization is important.

This breed is serious and courageous, they need firm obedience training otherwise you might find yourself with a over aggessive pet. They have been important assets to police and military agencies for years. In order to help keep this breed in order consistent companionship and socialization will help it from becoming more vicious and uncontrolable. A well trained Rottweiler is good with kids, cats, and other animals. But beware: Strangers will have a hard time getting close to this dog.

Doberman Pinscher

Bred to be guard dogs, the Doberman Pinscher has great energy and strength. This breed is easy to train and very versatile. They like to be close to their human family, always watchful and protective. Early socialization helps keep this breed from becoming overly protective. When it comes to training, the Doberman does not need extra protection training, they have enough of it naturally. They make good therapy, search and rescue, and tracking dogs. As a matter of fact they are used often in nursing homes, police stations, and military facilities.
